Call To Artists

We are seeking entries of original artwork of all media for our live auction. Thanks to an outpouring of support last time from the art community, our first auction was a huge success. This year our goal is to increase the benefit not only to the Historical Society, but to all involved. The Society is offering a 50/50 split with the artists as well as an aggressive attempt to offer exposure to those participating. The event will be catered by award winning caterers. The food promises to be a sumptuous feast.

Reasons to donate work:

Fifty percent split of proceeds or full donation with tax benefit.

Artist and guest receive complimentary tickets to the event with buffet dinner ($40 value).
Opportunity for Mid-Hudson Valley exposure. Work will be exhibited in the Crawford House Museum Gallery as well as a variety of satellite exhibits at local venues.

Artists and collectors, when possible will be given each other's contact information.

Local gallery owners will be invited to the event (last year a prominent Beacon gallery picked up an artist at the Auction).

You will be supporting an organization that is doing its part in revitalizing one of the Hudon's precious river towns. Lie so many once great New York State cities, Newburgh is rising from the ashes, a process realized by the contributions of individuals like you. Supporting an operation like the Newburgh Historical Society really does make a difference.

Artists are invited to donate original artwork. Between one and five pieces may be submitted, if we are overwhelmed with responses, we may return some work to those with multiple entries. We ask that 2-D work be framed and ready to hang. We have a framer working with us to help those who need assistance. Artists are asked to supply us with the retail value of their work, and they may set a reserve. Keep in mind that it is a benefit and there is no reserve fee. We suggest a reserve that is near a quarter of the full retail value. Artwork that does not sell will be returned to the artists.

The deadline for submissions is April 9th, but the sooner we have you work, the more likely it is to be featured in one of our planned exhibits. The Historical Society reserves the right to reject a piece of artwork for any reason. While every attempt to assure the safety of the work will be taken, the Society assumes no liability.
